Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

See the most common questions about our Colocation services.

What is Colocation?

Colocation is the hosting model where the customer brings their own hardware into the datacenter - and pays only for rack space, power consumed and network access. Instead of renting a third-party server every month, you use a machine you already own, with the specs you chose, and only cover the surrounding infrastructure. It is the most efficient way to run a dedicated server with controlled long-term cost.

Financial advantages of Colocation

The main financial advantage is clear: you stop paying hardware rent. On conventional dedicated servers, a large share of the monthly fee covers equipment owned by the provider - and you never own it. With colocation, that cost disappears. The hardware is yours, already purchased, and the monthly fee covers only what you actually use: space, power and bandwidth. For companies with predictable demand, ROI on owned hardware usually happens between 6 and 12 months.

Full control over upgrades and customizations

Another key advantage is full control over upgrades and customizations. On a rented dedicated server, any hardware change depends on the provider, may cost extra and is not always feasible. With colocation, you buy the part you want - more RAM, a faster NVMe SSD, a GPU, a 10G NIC - and schedule the swap with our Smart Hands team. No red tape, no waiting on third-party stock, no provider internal approvals.

Smart Hands: on-site technical support

HypeHost Smart Hands is the on-site technical arm for customers who cannot be physically present. Our team handles tasks such as part replacement, physical reboots, cable reconnection, OS install and stress tests, cable management and photo/video documentation. Everything is billed hourly, transparently - no mandatory packages or hidden fees.

Tier III infrastructure in São Paulo and Fortaleza

HypeHost colocation is available in Tier III datacenters in São Paulo (Osasco) and Fortaleza (Maracanaú), with redundant multi-provider links, generator and UPS power, redundant cooling, physical access control and 24-hour cameras. AntiDDoS protection is included on every plan at no extra cost. Plans start from half-U and cover individual servers up to full racks, with guaranteed bandwidth or traffic options depending on usage profile.

For companies that need compliance and traceability, our datacenters issue access reports, keep visit logs and offer biometric and badge-controlled access. Security audits and Tier III certifications ensure the infrastructure meets requirements for finance, healthcare and government customers.

Colocation vs. rented Dedicated Server

Colocation vs. rented dedicated server: rented dedicated is simpler to start - no upfront hardware investment - but monthly cost is higher and you do not own the equipment. Colocation requires buying the hardware, but recurring cost is much lower, you have full configuration freedom and you are not locked into the provider's upgrade policies. For operations with a horizon longer than 12 months, colocation is almost always cheaper overall.

Who is Colocation ideal for?

Colocation is ideal for companies that already own servers, plan to invest in hardware and want to reduce long-term fixed infrastructure cost, or need a very specific hardware configuration traditional providers cannot offer. It is also the right choice for anyone who wants to keep equipment ownership and full control over the production environment - without depending on third parties for every change.

  • Free BGP, with downstream and up to 3 IPv4 blocks. Unlimited IPv6.
  • AntiDDoS protection included on every plan, at no extra cost.
  • On-demand Smart Hands at R$ 250 per technical hour, plus R$ 100 dispatch outside business hours. Free hours on 10U, 20U and 47U.

AntiDDoS and physical security

Every HypeHost colocation plan includes AntiDDoS protection. Malicious traffic is filtered before it reaches your hardware, which reduces outages during volumetric attacks. In the datacenter, physical access is controlled with biometrics and badges, 24-hour cameras, visit reports and access logs. Generator and UPS power plus redundant cooling keep equipment online even during utility failures.

Network, BGP and carrier-neutral connectivity

Traffic is unlimited for normal use as long as it follows the Acceptable Use Policy. Commercial proxy, VPN or streaming for third parties is excluded from unlimited traffic and needs dedicated bandwidth (p95), in 500 Mbps increments. BGP is available at no charge. If you already have a contract with another carrier on the same campus, you can cross the fiber with a cross-connect (R$ 599/month per fiber). IX access is also available with ports from 1G to 400G, billed separately by the IX.

Where the datacenter is

Colocation runs in Tier III datacenters in Brazil: São Paulo (Osasco, Rua Bento de Souza Borges, 21, Industrial Anhangüera) and Fortaleza (Maracanaú, Travessa Francisco Marrocos Portela, 1161). São Paulo covers most national traffic with low latency. Fortaleza is the exit point for routes to the United States and northern South America. You can ship the server by carrier, postal service or drop it off in person. Our team racks and cables it.

SLA, billing and cancellation

  • 99.9% SLA on colocation infrastructure availability.
  • No lock-in on 1U, 2U, Ryzen 2U, 10U and 20U. Only 47U requires a 12-month contract.
  • Prepaid billing in Brazilian reais. PIX, bank slip, credit card and cryptocurrency.
  • Available to individuals and companies, with no complex paperwork.
  • Human support in Portuguese and on-site Smart Hands for part swaps, reboots and installs.

Why colocate with HypeHost

HypeHost runs colocation in Brazil with pricing in reais, no foreign-exchange surprise, and a team that installs, powers on and documents the equipment. You pick the hardware, bring it to the rack and pay only for space, power and network. You can start on 1U with no lock-in, grow to 10U or 20U with included Smart Hands hours, or take the 47U rack when the operation needs a full cabinet. Cross-connect, BGP, extra IPs and dedicated bandwidth are added when the project needs them - without bundling what you will not use.

Why does HypeHost have the best Colocation in Brazil?

The best colocation in Brazil is not the one that quotes the cheapest rack on paper. It is the one that bills in reais, answers support in Portuguese, racks the server without you having to go on site, and only requires a contract when a full cabinet actually needs one. HypeHost runs that as its own operation: Tier III datacenters in São Paulo (Osasco) and Fortaleza (Maracanaú), AntiDDoS included, free BGP, carrier-neutral connectivity and on-site Smart Hands. This is not a foreign datacenter resold in dollars. The invoice, the team and the SLA are local.

  • Pricing in Brazilian reais, with no FX surprise. 1U from R$ 400/month with optional commitment, 2U at R$ 499/month with commitment.
  • No lock-in on 1U, 2U, Ryzen 2U, 10U and 20U. Only 47U requires a 12-month contract.
  • Human support and Smart Hands in the rack: part swaps, reboots, OS installs and photo documentation.
  • Network with AntiDDoS included, free BGP, cross-connect and IX access on the same campus.
  • Bring the hardware you want, including Ryzen with an AIO watercooler. We can also build the server with you.
  • Start on 1U for a single server and scale to a full rack without changing providers halfway.

Colocation vs. hosting locally (home or office)

Leaving the server at home or in the office looks cheaper at first. In practice you take on utility power, air conditioning, noise, physical risk and a link that was not built to stay online 24 hours under attack. A tripped breaker, a blackout or a DDoS on a residential IP takes the service down - and someone has to be on site to bring it back. With colocation the hardware is still yours. What changes is the environment: A and B power feeds, generator, UPS, cooling, cameras, controlled access, AntiDDoS and a remote management port.

  • At home, power is a wall outlet. In the datacenter you get A and B feeds, a generator and UPS. A street outage does not shut the server down.
  • Home or typical office internet deals with CGNAT, blocked ports and DDoS. In colocation the network is datacenter-grade, with BGP and protection included.
  • In the office someone has to walk to the machine. In colocation you use IPMI and request Smart Hands when you need hands on the hardware.
  • Electricity, cooling and the risk of theft or fire add up to more than the rack monthly fee, especially after a few months.
  • A server at home or in a commercial room makes heat and noise. In the rack that stays in the datacenter, and the office goes back to being an office.
